Duration: 6 Week Embroidery Course (1 x 2.5 hour session per week for 6 consecutive weeks)
Over this six-week online course, you’ll explore a range of traditional and contemporary goldwork techniques to create a detailed lunar moth design. This piece is designed as a goldwork sampler, combining a variety of intricate techniques including metal threadwork, silk shading and beading.
Throughout the project, you’ll work through different methods of padding, filling and embellishment, learning how to combine goldwork materials with silk threads and beads. The mix of techniques makes this a great class for developing your skills and learning how different embroidery methods can work together within one design. Inspired by the delicate forms and colouring of a lunar moth, the design uses shades of green alongside goldwork to create a refined and elegant finish. The contrast between the soft, shaded silk work and the shine of the metal threads adds depth and texture to the piece.
Whether you are new to goldwork or looking to expand your existing skills, this six-week online class offers the opportunity to explore a wide range of techniques in one project, creating a detailed and sophisticated piece of contemporary goldwork embroidery.
